****UPDATED RESULTS (8/28/07)****

Running

This weekend, participants in the 2007 NASA Classic competed at various locations throughout the Atlanta-metro area. As it was LocalReplay’s first experience covering the NASA Classic, we did not know what to expect other than some hot temperatures and high-level soccer.

Thanks to the tremendous support we received from tournament director Ellen Smith and her first rate staff, our first experience covering the NASA Classic was a resounding success. Due to the inclement weather on Sunday, many of the games were postponed/cancelled/shortened, and as a result, LocalReplay has encountered some difficulty with gathering the final standings. Following is a recap of the weekend’s events, based on final results posted on the NASA Classic tournament website.

U10 Boys

Blue. The Alpharetta Ambush 98 Red and the NASA South Inter Milan were tied atop Flight A with 24 points after regular play concluded. Norcross Fury Gold took Flight B with a 1-1-1 record. GSA Arsenal had a similar record in Flight B, but Norcross was named the Flight B champs thanks to a better goal differential. No results for the finals matchup featuring the Ambush Red and Fury Gold were posted.

White. The Alpharetta Ambush 98 White took Flight A thanks to victories over GSA Chelsea, the NSA-98 Norcross Fury Blue and the Concorde Fire Central 98 White. In Flight B, NASA North AC Milan also had a perfect record with wins over the Concorde Fire Central 98 White, GSA Chelsea and GSA Liverpool. No results for the finals matchup featuring the Ambush White and NASA AC Milan were posted.

Black. NASA South Lazio proved to much for the Alpharetta Ambush 99 Red, as the home club squad emerged victorious 3-2. Lazio took Flight A by storm, not losing a single match in regular play and beating flight runner-up Concorde Fire Central 99 Black by 10 overall points. The Ambush made it to the finals by winning Flight B with a 2-0-1 record, with their lone blemish a 5-5 stalemate versus NASA North Parma. Ambush scored an unbelievable 27 goals in regular play!

Red. The East Ridge Express 99 Red and NASA South Juventus were scheduled to play in the Red finals, however results were not posted on the tournament website. East Ridge won Flight A with a perfect 3-0 record and +15 goal differential. Juventus emerged as the victors of Flight B with a 2-1 record, with their lone defeat at the hands of the Alpharetta Ambush 99 White in a 3-1 battle.

U10 Girls

Blue. NASA Academy North Tarpley came up short against the Cobb FC 98 Lady Chiefs Gold in a 3-0 Girls U10 Blue final. The Chiefs Gold benefitted from a plus +14 goal differential on its way to a perfect 4-0 record.

White. In Flight A, Norcross U10 Girls’ Gold picked up three wins over the Ambush Red 99, the Cobb FC - Lady Chiefs 98 Silver and 98 Thunder Juventus on its way to take the flight. NASA Academy South Wagner came out on top of Flight B with a 2-0-1 record in regular play. The final results for a championship game between Norcross and NASA were not posted.

Black. Alpharetta Ambush 98 Gray edged out the East Ridge Express 98 Red 2-1 in a hard-fought Black final. The Ambush and Express were clearly the class of the division this weekend, with both teams having the only winning records in regular play (3-0-1 and 3-1, respectively).

Red. In the U10 Girls Red finals, the Ambush White 99 got by the home club NASA Red Hots 2-1. This was a rematch of the 9:30 game, which resulted in a 3-3 tie. Flight A was extremely competitive this year, with 6 points separating the Ambush from the Concorde U-9 North Girls; while Flight B was won handily by the Red Hots (finishing 15 points ahead of each of Concorde U9 North Team B and NASA Academy South Whitehill).

U11 Boys

Blue. In Flight A, it took a 1-1-1 record from NASA Blackburn to take the flight with 4 overall points more than ‘97 Norcross Fury Gold. U11 Girls

Girls Soccer

U12 Boys

Blue. In the final game, the Vestavia Steamers 96 Barcelona came up short against NASA DC United 3-2. NASA breezed through Flight B with a perfect 3-0 record and strong +15 goal differential, while in Flight A, Vestavia came out on top with a 2-0-1 record in regular play.

White. Home club teams the NASA Crew and the NASA Fire met in the championship game, with the Fire emerging as champions 2-1. The Crew had only one tie in reqular play, to win Flight A. In Flight B, the Fire took the flight with a perfect 3-0 record and +18 goal differential.

Black. In Sunday’s championship game, the CFC CHIEFS lost 2-1 to the GSA 96 Zaragoza, giving GSA the Black crown. The Chiefs got to the finals with a surprising 1-2 record, while GSA had an easier time in Flight B, amassing a 2-0-1 record in regular play.

U12 Girls

Blue. The NASA North Blue Academy edged out the Tophat Gold U12 2-1 in a thriller of a U12 Girls Blue final. Each team breezed through their respective flight, bringing unblemished records into the finals.

White. In the White finals, the VHSC Attack 96 outpaced a strong 96 Norcross Fury Gold squad 2-1. The Attack escaped Flight A thanks to two more points than runnerup Lady Chiefs Gold, while the Fury Gold edged out Samba 96 by 5 overall points.

Black. In an exciting Black final, the GSA 96 Phoenix White emerged victorious over the U12 Ambush Grey1-0. [User Reported] The Ambush Grey fought hard for the title, taking Flight A by storm with a brilliant +15 goal differential. The Phoenix got their ticket to the finals thanks to a +2 goal differential margin over home squad NASA South-Bivens.

U13 Boys

Blue. The NASA 13 Elite went down in a thriller to the Silverbacks Elite 1-0 in Sunday’s championship match. The Silverbacks left it all on the pitch, after taking Flight B with a perfect 3-0 record. NASA was similarly impressive with its 3-0 record in Flight A play.

White. Final results were not posted from the championship game that was to feature the BUSC Hammers and the Cobb FC 95 Chiefs Silver. The Hammers stormed Flight A, amassing an unblemished 3-0 record. In Flight B, the Silver enjoyed a similar path to the finals, picking up three victories and scoring 12 goals in regular play.

Silver. Arsenal Rome, coming into the championship game with the second seed, upset the GSA 95 Phoenix Black 2-1 in the Silver final. The Black were perfect in regular play, but lost a heartbreaker to the Rome.

U13 Girls

Blue. The Blue crown when to the NASA G13 Elite, who beat the Ambush Red Elite 3-0 in the final game. The two finalists had much different paths to the championship game. While NASA waltzed through Flight B with a perfect 3-0 record, the Ambush actually had only one win (over the TYSA Green) and two ties (versus the Stars SC 13 Gold and the 95 Lady Thunder).

White. The 95 Lady Cannons and the ERSA Express 95 Shockers, each with perfect 3-0 records, met Sunday afternoon in the U13 Girls White finals. At the end of 90 minutes, it was the Cannons that emerged over the Shockers in a 2-1 battle.

Black. The ERSA Express Bratt Attack 96 finished atop the division in regular play, thanks to a 3-0-1 record and a +4 goal differential. Arsenal Rome, the Tornados, the ‘95 CobbFC Lady Chiefs Silvern and the Cartersville Clash rounded out the division.

U14 Boys

Blue. Championship Sunday was good to the Cobb FC 94 Chiefs Gold, as the Chiefs took down the Alianza Elite 1-0 in the Blue finals. The Chiefs finished atop Flight A with a 2-0-1 record, while the Elite were perfect in Flight B.

White. The Cobb FC Silver came up 2 goals short against the Alpharetta Ambush 94 White in the White finals. The Silver posted a 2-0-1 record in regular play to take Flight B, while the Ambush benefitted from a similar record to take Flight B.

Silver. The Dacula Danger U14 White triumphed over the ND Alianza Silver 2-0, in a very competitive Silver final. Dacula had its way with Flight B, coming out of regular play with a a perfect 3-0 record, while the Silver squad’s lone stumbling block was its 1-0 loss against ASA Xtreme Blue in its first game on Saturday.

Black. In the Black division, the Norcross Fury Gold finished at the top, thanks to a 2-0-1 record and one overall point more than runner-up YMCA Striker Black. Final results of the championship game were not posted.

U14 Girls

Blue. In the Blue final game, the AFC Lightning ‘94 White went down 3-0 to the GSA 95 Phoenix Red. The Lightning dominated Flight A, with a 3-0 record and a +6 goal differential, while the Phoenix Red edged out the NASA G12 Elite by one overall point in Flight B.

White. A tough Roswell Santos Blue squad made quick work of the West Metro Freedom 93 Red to win the White finals 4-0. In Flight A, Roswell managed to pick up three more overall points than the Phoenix Red on its way to the final. In Flight B, the Freedom’s lone loss to Flight A third place finisher ‘94 CobbFC Lady Chiefs Silver was a bit surprising, but the Freedom rallied back and took the flight by five overall points.

Black. The TYSA U-14 White were crowned champs thanks to a 1-0 victory over the GSA 94 Phoenix White in Sunday’s final game. TYSA got to the finals with a 2-0-1 record in Flight B play, while GSA had a better goal differential than the KFC - Cobras to take Flight A.

U14 Girls

U15 Boys

Blue. In a nail-biter of a final game, the Norcross Fury Gold outpaced the Cartersville Clash 1-0 to take the Blue championship. Norcross took Flight A with a 2-0-1 record (with the one tie against the Cherokee Impact U15 Boys), while, the Clash took Flight B with a similar 2-0-1 record (with the one tie against visitors Birmingham United 93 Select).

White. The NASA ‘11 White emerged victorious over the West Metro Soccer Club 2-1 in the U15 Boys White finals. Ironically, NASA took a 1-1-1 record in Flight A into the finals, while West Metro won Flight B with a 2-0-1 record. I guess that’s why they play the game.

Black. Regular play ended with NASA ‘11 Black sitting atop the division with a 2-0-1 record. NASA - Gray finished second with a 2-1 record, with its lone loss coming at the hands of the Black.

U15 Girls

Blue. The championship game featured the Cobb YMCA Strikers Black falling to the NASA G12 Elite II 1-0. The Strikers Black barely beat out the Cobb FC Lady Chief U-14 Gold to win Flight A, while the Elite skated through Flight B and enjoyed an eight overall point margin of victory over the flight runner-up BUSA ‘93 Elite North.

White. Our first reported PK-deciding final of the day (some hate that PK’s decide a championship, while others love it - one thing is for sure, those 10+ free shots on goal certainly are exciting!). And it was the Cobb YMCA Strikers Red scoring more free shots on goal than the Tophat Gold 12, giving the Strikers the White crown.

Black. The TASA Raiders took the Georgia FC Classic girls to task, winning the championship game in a 5-1 route. The Raiders reigned supreme in the Black division all weekend, amassing a perfect 3-0 record and scoring 16 goals in regular play.

U16 Boys.

Blue. In the U16 Boys Blue final, the AFC Lightning Premier smoked the RYSA 92 Sporting FC 7-nil. The Premier found little difficulty dispatching the other participants in Flight A, while Sporting FC was deadlocked with FC America 92 at the end of regular play in Flight B.

White. The Alpharetta Ambush picked up two wins and one tie to take Flight A with 22 overall points. In Flight B, it was the Norcross Gold 92 that had a perfect 3-0 record to win the flight. Final results of the championship game were not posted on the NASA website.

Black. The NSA Fury 92 Blue reigned supreme in the Black division, taking down Roswell Santos Blue 3-0. The Fury rolled over its competition the entire weekend, amassing three wins in regular play and an unbelievable +15 goal differential.

Girls kicking

U16 Girls.

White. In the U16 Girls White, Top Hat Navy U-16 fell to the home club favorite NASA ‘10 Black squad 1-0. Top Hat looked strong coming out of Flight A with a 2-0-1 record, but ran into a buzz saw of a NASA team, which mowed down each competitor it faced on its way to a 3-0 record in Flight B.

U17 Boys

Blue. In Flight A of the Blue division, the Forsyth Fusion Gold finished one overall point ahead of the Atlanta Silverbacks Elite to win the flight. In Flight B, each of the Crew 90 Premier and the North Atlanta 09 Elite finished with 22 overall points. The Premier took the flight, however, thanks to a better goal differential. Final game results were not posted.

White. The GSA 91 Phoenix White hung on to defeat a resilient BUSA 91 Select squad 1-0 in the White finals. The Phoenix White barely escaped Flight B, edging out the CGSA U17 Strikers by one overall point. BUSA blew through their division, amassing 23 points on two wins and a single tie.

Black. It took only a 1-1-1 record in regular play from the DSC U17 Classic White to finish first in Flight A. In Flight B, the CFC Flames racked up three wins to finish with 26 overall points and first place in the flight. The NASA Classic tournament website did not post final results from a championship game that was to feature DSC and CFC.

U17 Girls

Blue. On Championship Sunday, the NASA ‘10 Select may not have felt like champions as it fell to the Alparetta Ambush 92 Red 2-0. The Ambush were truly impressive this weekend, acing Flight B with a 3-0 record. NASA came to play in Flight A, building a comfortable 9 point overall lead over runner up Stars SC 10 Diamond. Unfortunately for NASA, they came up 1 goal short in the finals.

Tackle

U19 Boys

Blue. The Chiefs Gold triumphed over the NASA 08 Premier 2-0 in the Blue final. The Gold cruised through Flight A with an unblemished record, making certain that neither Arsenal Rome nor RYSA Sporting FC 90 Blue stood in their way to the finals. In Flight B, the Premier’s otherwise perfect record was marred by a single 4-1 loss to the Gold.

White. The Rnagers took down the Cobb FC Chiefs Silver 1-0 in the title game. The Silver finished first in Flight A with two wins and one tie (versus the Smyrna Stealth), and a +5 goal differential. The runner-up Rangers finished with a similar two win, one tie record in Flight B.

U19 Girls

Blue. In one of the days’ best final games, AYSA InterAtlanta went down to the GSA 91 Phoenix Red 2-1. The Phoenix Red advanced to the finals out of Flight B based on a better goal differential than second place Glory United FC 90. InterAtlanta edged out NASA 09 Premier by one overall point to take Flight A.

White. The Clash U19 had an easy time in regular play, winning Flight A with a perfect 3-0 record. GFC ‘91 also made quick work of things in Flight B, finishing with a similar three wins. Final results from the championship game were not posted.
