LocalReplay Preseason Top 10 (Class 5A)

As arguably the most competitive division in Georgia High School Football, our Class 5A Top 10 is a veritable “who’s who” of high school programs.

1. Tift County-Although the Blue Devils fell one game short in 2006, Coach Jay Walls has his team ready to finish the job this season.

2. Lowdnes County-With their talent this season, the Vikings could be stealing all of the headlines from division rival Tift County.

3. Camden County-After a disappointing playoff appearance in 2006, the Wildcats look to benefit from a favorable schedule and a solid cast of returning starters in making a deep run into the playoffs.

4. Coffee County-Jerry Odom’s squad is always dangerous, and this year should be no exception.

5. M.L. King- Rounding out the top 5 is the perennial power house M.L. King Lions. Sean Smith and Rodriguez Lowe will anchor this team in a press to better last year’s successful tour.

6. Peachtree Ridge-As returning Co-State Champions, the Lions will have targets on their backs, but are not going to relinquish their crown without a fight.

7. Roswell- The Hornets are also defending State Champions, and they return a number of starters from last year. Don’t bet against them.

8. Brookwood-Another team with a storied past, the Broncos will again be a factor in late November.

9. Houston County-The Bears are the third best team in their region. It just so happens it’s the most competitive region in the state.

10. Newnan-The Cougars are our pick to be the surprise team this year in 5A. Don’t count out a title game apperance.

Send us your thoughts if you don’t agree with our list. And remember to visit LocalReplay early and often to view our highlights, and start uploading your own!
