Wesley Chapel, Florida is a long way from British Columbia, but New Westminster Salmonbellie lacrosse made it feel like home this weekend, winning the Dick’s Sporting Goods NDP Lacrosse Tournament of Champions National Lacrosse Championship. New Westminster beat Team Headstrong (Pennsylvania) 7-5 to earn the championship.
We talked to Salmonbellie fans whom said they were particularly proud because their team is a community-based team that doesn’t pull players from a wide area or put together individual all-stars from a league, so many of the players have been playing together since age seven.
