As the 2007 High School football season winds down, we are blessed this weekend with some fantastic games that will decide District titles all over the Tampa Bay area.

In Class 6A-6, Durant (1-1, 4-4) visits Sarasota Riverview (1-1, 2-7) to decide the champion of this district.

An intriguing game highlights District 5A-5 as Wharton (2-0, 5-4) goes on the road to Gaither (2-0, 6-3) to decide first place in the finale for both teams. Not to be forgotten is the battle between Alonso (1-1, 5-4) and Sickles (1-1, 6-3) with the winner potentially gaining a second place finish.

Class 5A-7 will be decided Friday night when Brandon (3-0, 6-2) visits Plant City (3-0, 5-3) in both teams last district game.

Even though Dunedin has already clinched district 5A-9, Countryside (2-1, 6-2) will host East Lake (2-1, 5-3) in a battle to determine the second place finisher in both teams district finale.

Class 5A-10 will come down to Friday night’s game, a local rivalry between Largo (4-0, 8-0) and home standing Gibbs (4-0, 6-2)

Class 4A-8 isn’t short on excitement either, as Ridgewood (4-0, 8-0) takes their perfect record on the road to play a tough squad in Land O’Lakes (4-0, 7-1) with the winner being crowned District champs

Jefferson (2-0, 4-4) will have their work cut out for them when they visit Plant (2-0, 7-1) to decide District 4A-10

Probably the most district drama in the Tampa Bay area resides in 3A-8 as four teams will vie for the championship on Friday night. Gulf (3-1, 4-4) fresh off their emotional win last week over Zephyrhills, will host Pasco (3-1, 4-4), while Hudson (3-1, 6-2) will take their slim district lead to Zephyrhills (3-1, 5-3) for the other half of this playoff-like final weekend.

In the south part of the region, Palmetto (3-0, 7-1) will visit Sarasota Booker (3-0, 7-1) to determine the district title for 3A-11

And a fierce small school game between Tampa Catholic (4-0, 7-1) and host Fort Myers Bishop Verot (3-1, 6-2) will decide the champion for district 2A-5
