Quick Hits—Ridge Community District Champs?

The Winter Haven News-Chief has an interesting take on just how good Ridge Community is this season. We can’t argue with the columnist’s assertion that Ridge Community is capable of winning District 3A-10, where Lakeland Kathleen is the perennial power.

After all, Ridge Community has outscored its three opponents 109-6 on its way to a 3-0 start. Among those wins is a 41-0 drubbing of Avon Park in the season opener for both teams. Avon Park, mind you, just defeated Wauchula Hardee 10-7 last weekend. And that’s a Hardeen team that has wins this year against Fort Meade and North Fort Myers. So, yes, Ridge Community is pretty good, but so is Kathleen, which nearly pulled off a Week 1 upset of rival Lakeland Lake Gibson.
