Our AAU softball site will return as well, featuring the individual team websites for each AAU softball team (and enable you to start a new site for your team for free), displaying all the photo albums from each team, and showcasing the video highlights.

The sun came out and dried up the early rain, carved pumpkins decorated the fields, and of course great softball filled the AAU Softball Winter National Championship tournament in Concord, NC this weekend. Even the 8-year olds got into the action for the first time at an AAU softball tournament, playing 8U coach pitch softball. Future softball stars - no doubt - and the players, coaches, and fans had a great time in what should be the first of many 8U coach pitch softball tournaments.

Anyone that goes to these AAU softball events knows that everyone wins - from the umpires to the fans and everyone in between - but also knows that these teams are out there to win ball games, and play terrific competitive softball inning after inning. The AAU Softball Winter Nationals included over 50 teams from the 8U, 12U, 14U, and 16U divisions in Concord, NC. At last look, the Lady Jackets of Lancaster, SC and the Phantoms of Morganton, NC were battling for the 16u softball championship, while the final four of the 14U division had come down to the Stanly County Fireballs (Norwood, NC), Carolina Blast (Concord, NC), the Smackers (Fairview, NC), and the Diamond Divas out of Biscoe, NC.

The 2007 AAU Softball National Championships kicked off in Concord today with team registration and opening ceremonies, including a home run derby, base races, around the horn, and a parade. Three days of game competition start tomorrow in Concord, hosted by NCAAU Softball and Hartsell Athletic Association.

We’ll cover the games here, on Carolina Sports, and on LocalReplay.com.

National Championship Coaches - when prompted while registering on LocalReplay, use Team Type = Youth League and League Type = AAU to pull up your team (you don’t need to use the optional fields). Your fans can now upload photos or video, your players/parents can create StarCards, and you can email in any info that you want posted.
